Habitat for Humanity of the Roaring Fork Valley

Housing Production and Education Center

Habitat for Humanity of the Roaring Fork Valley is currently developing a workforce training center for the off-site construction of net-zero deed-restricted homes. This Modular Housing Production and Education Center is located at the Energy Innovation Center in Rifle, Colorado, creating solutions to the affordable housing crisis and workforce shortage in Western Colorado.

The Net-Zero Housing Production and Education Center will be 60,000 sq ft for both production floor and classrooms for CRBOCES/EPIC and other workforce training institutions. This integrated facility is designed to build up to 100 homes per year and provide workforce training and certification for up to 100 students each year

This job training facility will give students the opportunity to gain skills and be certified in the construction trades. With this knowledge, these students are a pipeline for the construction and advanced manufacturing industries of our communities.

This off-site modular construction facility will contribute to the region’s economic development and is projected to have 27 full-time employees. The Colorado River Valley has historically relied on oil and gas extraction activities, this operation is designed to diversify the workforce and economy for careers of the future.

Habitat for Humanity of the Roaring Fork Valley is committed to net-zero energy homes, as demonstrated at the Basalt Vista award-winning neighborhood. Habitat RFV is currently building 20 net-zero homes at Wapiti Commons in Rifle. The Confluence in Glenwood Springs and future homes built at the modular facility will be held to the net-zero standard to assure long-term affordability.

Thank you to our collaborative partners!

Each Habitat home is a labor of love built by the Habitat build team, subcontractors, volunteers, and homeowners. In the same spirit of collaboration and partnership, numerous other local companies and organizations are actively making this dream a reality.

Help us make homeownership possible for the people who serve our community

Your gift will promote and inspire fulfilment in the lives of Habitat homeowners, which in turn translates into the health and happiness they give back to all of us as fellow RoaringFork Valley neighbors.
