ReStore Press Release

Habitat for Humanity opens ReStore, selling high-end home furnishings and building supplies in Carbondale.

Local Habitat affiliate provides new alternative for high-end thrift store shopping in the valley, stocking shelves with commercial and residential donations.

Glenwood Springs, CO, November 8, 2007 – Habitat for Humanity of the Roaring Fork Valley is changing the face of thrift store shopping in the valley. The non-profit has recently opened a ReStore in Carbondale offering high-end, gently used home furnishings and building supplies donated by valley businesses and residents. In addition to donations that have come from valley residents doing total home remodels and complete refurnishing projects, the organization is accepting two significant donations from the Sky Hotel and The Hotel Aspen. Both luxury hotels are undergoing major renovations during the off-season and are donating their room furnishings to Habitat.

According to John Curnow, General Manager of the Sky Hotel, "We're excited to be donating hundreds of items to Habitat and support a local non-profit doing great work right here in the valley. The idea of repurposing our room furnishings aligns well with our corporate-wide goal of promoting eco-friendly business practices."

Scott Olpin, General Manager for The Hotel Aspen concurs, "When we first embarked on this renovation, we knew our furnishings would be of value to an organization like Habitat. We're donating all of our room furnishings, from alarm clocks to armoires and we're glad to see them go to such a great cause."

The ReStore will have set business hours in December, but will be open Saturday, November 10th from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm. The store will also be open Friday and Saturday, November 16th and 17th from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm. All proceeds from the ReStore go directly into Habitat's operating and building funds, which finance the organization's two upcoming building projects in Carbondale and Rifle. To make a donation or to volunteer to help in the ReStore, contact Habitat at 945-7733 or [ email ].
